On February 18, GMC will broadcast the world premiere of A Cross to Bear. The film will star veteran actresses Kim Fields, Malinda Williams as well as Jackie Long, Kenny Lattimore, Angie Stone and others, including rapper Lecrae (Moore) who will make his acting debut as the character Jerome.
Directed by Tandria Potts, who is also responsible for As Written, a documentary on Chrisette Michele, A Cross to Bear is also co-produced by Terri J. Vaughn and Cas Sigers Beedles, responsible for writing the original screenplay.
According to GMC, the film chronicles “Erica Moses, the homeless mother of a 15-month-old daughter, wakes up alone one day in an abandoned building. With the help of the people she meets in a home for women she fights to get her life back and builds relationships that will change her life forever.”

In recent years, Fields has found herself behind the camera directing, instead of in the limelight, but her new film will bring her back to the screen for fans. In the clip below, she talks about A Cross to Bear, as well as her plans to develop a 2012 version of Holiday Love.
