Actress Carmen Ejogo attended the 27th Annual Stellar Awards to present and stopped in the press room to discuss her upcoming projects with the media.

Does her face seem familiar? You’re probably familiar with this London born actress’ work, Ejogo’s first film appearance was in Metro (1997) with Eddie Murphy. Since then she’s graced the screen in a number of different productions including Lackawanna Blues, Pride and Glory with Ed Norton and The Brave One with Terrance Howard, among many others.

In the future we can look to see Carmen play opposite Tyler Perry as his wife, Marcia Cross, in the thriller , I, Alex Cross, which is scheduled to release later this year and she’s also landed the role of “Sister” in the Whitney Houston executive produced remake of the classic Sparkle.

In the clip below, Ejogo discusses what it was like working on Sparkle with T.D. Jakes and Whitney Houston. We also get the scoop on the film, and her character, which was played by Lonette McKee in the original; for the remake her sisters will be Tika Sumpter (The Game) and Jordin Sparks (American Idol). Carmen also tells us about the importance of her character in the film, I, Alex Cross.

Both Sparkle and I, Alex Cross are slated to hit theaters Fall 2012. Of all her roles, one of my favorites had to be her portrayal of Sally Hennings, Thomas Jefferson’s mistress in the miniseries Sally Hemings: An American Scandal.

Are you planning to support Sparkle and/or I, Alex Cross when they hit theaters?
