Last week, Centric TV aired Be Inspired: The Life of Heavy D which looked at the life of the well-known rapper who left the hip hop world stunned when he unexpectedly died on November 8.
Some of the celebrities tapped to share their memories of Heavy D were Will Smith, Warryn Campbell, Malcolm Jamal-Warner, Al B. Sure, Queen Latifah, Anthony Hamilton, Russell Simmons, Mary J. Blige, Doug E. Fresh and a number of others; it’s narrated by MC Lyte.
In addition to the spotlight placed on his rise in the industry, the interviews give you a better understanding of who Dwight Arrington Myers was as a man. He influenced hip hop by making BIG sexy, creating a path for others like Big Pun, the Notorious B.I.G. and Cee-Lo, who also recognizes Hev’s trailblazing in the documentary.
Everyone has such fond memories of Heavy D, he must have been a gentle soul, he’s often remembered for his kindness — that says a lot.
