President Obama Sings “Sweet Home Chicago”

Since we’re in President Obama’s re-election year, it’s safe to say that if he doesn’t win the seat, he could have a legitimate career in the music industry. We kid.

First showing off his vocal talents at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater with a rendition of Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together, last night he was asked to join in on Sweet Home Chicago, but this time Obama sang with the legendary Mick Jagger and B.B. King.

At the Red, White and Blues event President Obama said, “this music speaks to something universal. No one goes through life without both joy and pain, triumph and sorrow. The blues gets all of that, sometimes with just one lyric or one note.”

Watch…

President Obama has a great singing voice and he’s definitely got our vote! ;)

Meagan Good Admits Whitney Houston Biopic Was In The Works + Idris Elba to Portray Nelson Mandela!

While promoting his new film, Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, where he stars opposite Nicholas Cage, Idris Elba told Hip Hollywood that he will indeed play Nelson Mandela in the biopic Long Walk to Freedom, based on the book of the same title.

Although it has been a few months since we saw reports that the first time Golden Globe winner would portray Mandela, we’ve not seen him address the role publicly. Elba admits “that’s where my head is geared this summer.”

We figured it wouldn’t be long before a biopic about South Africa’s first President to be elected in a democratic process would hit the screen. In the film, Winnie, which premiered at the TIFF last year, the Madela’s are portrayed by Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard.

Elba’s not the only one making moves in Hollywood, in an exclusive with E! Online’s Marc Malkin, actress Meagan Good admits that she was “fairly in the beginning stages” of working with Whitney Houston on a movie.

The Homegoing Celebration for Whitney Elizabeth Houston (1963 – 2012)

Truthfully, I couldn’t even bring myself to post anything this week in honor and memory of the woman who had a very strong influence on my appreciation of music.

It’s impossible to recount the number of times I’ve belted The Greatest Love of All or any of Whitney Houston’s songs at the top of my lungs in private and public for family, friends or at school as well as other community functions.

I am absolutely devastated at the loss of Whitney Houston. Today, we celebrate her life and accomplishments with her family, friends and fans from across the world.

May we all find comfort in knowing that Whitney rests in the arms of God and we were blessed to have a spirit so powerful, it influenced the lives of others from a distance.

May you forever rest in peace Beloved!
